Writing in own words is extremely important, yet I see also a possible issue: sometimes we reformulate things in the way that wasn't inteded by the original author. Then this reforumlation lives in our minds instead of the original and it can lead to further misinterpretations.

It seems to me that we have to sometimes revisit the original passages.
